A Christmas Fortune Cookie

Our Christmas was spent with our family in Montgomery ,Alabama. We and the boys drove down to Montgomery , at about 6 pm and arrived about 7 15.It was not a long drive, but it was raining lightly. We did not have a cold Christmas but it was wet.
We stayed till Christmas Day. The kids got their gifts, and we have a lot of Chinese Friends came over on Christmas Day.We cooked a lot of food, and sang Karaoke, some real Chinese Oldies.
We had a Great Christmas ,with friends and families around us.
The Christmas Fortune Cookie says
" You are demonstrative with those you love"
Sometimes we need to show the person we loved by demonstrating our love with actions. Whether with just a card, flowers or gifts or simple words. Even with a home cooked meal,or simple tasks. Sometimes a simple email will do.
It is not necessary to remember only Valentine's Day ,Birthdays, or Anniversaries,Even on an
Ordinary Day, A simple Post It note will sure brighten someones Day.

Cookies for Veterans

Monday is Veterans Day. There will be no school for some kids and no work for some.
Well, it is day where all the shopping places like Kohl, Target,Ross ,JC Penney and Macy are starting to have holidays sales with 30% to 75% OFF. Great time to start your Christmas Shopping. Actually, Thanksgiving Day is still about 2 weeks away. I thought Sales only start on Black Friday. But, why do Americans act so crazy, everyone only go shopping on that day and you have to get up so early in the cold and freezing morning?, some waited in line for 2 hours before the shops open for business. And they would push and fight for just one particular to or game box. After that you have to stand in line ,another 2 hours to pay for your merchandise. I guess this is one weird American Custom.
So for tomorrow Veterans special Fortune cookies say
"You have a Quiet and unobtrusive nature" This is true, for I am always a queit person, although I love to socialise and have a lot of friends. I always find it hard to carry a long conversation, I will run out of subjects, do not know what to say. I have a few friends who always can carry a long and lenghty conversation, they can alway find something to chat or argue with you,any kind of subjects. And they are always popular and interesting in a crowd, but sometimes can be annoying .For they can chat and chat nonstop .Does this mean they want attention ? But they will never bored a party.Right?

Fortune with a Joke.

Reading a Fortune cookie is always full of fun and laughter with a few friends after a meal at the Chinese Restaurant. I always noticed people or families were always enjoyed the Fortune Cookie's part . I did not realized it will be much more fun if one of them put a joke on it.
Today, me and a few business associates decided to go eat at a Chinese Restaurnt after our business meeting. Although it was a Buffet Restaurant we did not want buffet but ask the owner, a good friend to cook us something different. He cooked us
Braised Bass fish with soy sauce, Stirfried Spicy Clam, Braised Roast Duck and French Beans with pork slices. We really enjoyed our lunch.
Then it was Fortune Cookies time. Everyone start reading and Anita, the comical one started reading by adding the word "On Bed " to everyone's Fortunes. Everyone really had a good laugh. So this is how it goes

" You will travel far and wide for both pleasure and business, "on bed"

" You love life very much "on bed"

" Handsome is that handsome does "on bed"

" The philosophy of one century is the common sense of the next "on bed"

What to do with your fortune's paper?

The weather is turning cool over here these few days. With this kind of weather, I have been restless and sleepy all the time.Feel like going in to hibenation. I know I have not been posting last few days. I was wondering what do people do with thier fortune cookies paper. Some will eat up their cookies and leave the paper on the table after their meals, some will keep them in their purse, to remind them of their good fortunes from time to times. There are some who would save them , under their pillow or in the safe. Since I have been reading a lot , I have been saving them in a small wine glass. Maybe I can sell them on ebay one day. What would you do with yours?

Today I have a few fortunes

" Discontent is the first step in the progress of a man or a nation"

'You have a reputation for being straight forward and honest"

"You have a potential urge and the ablility for accomplishment."

"You are broad minded and socially active"

"Don't let friends impose on you, work calmly and silently"

"You have an iron will, which helps you suceed in everything"

"You have much skill in expressing yourself to be effective."

The job as a Cookie Master.

Have you been enjoying your fortune cookies'sayings? Do you know who writes all these messages and what it takes to be a Cookie Master?
As a vice-president at Wonton Food, Inc., in Long Island City, Donald Lau manages the company’s accounts payable and receivable, negotiates with insurers, and, somewhat incidentally, composes the fortunes that go inside the fortune cookies, of which Wonton is the world’s largest manufacturer. Each day, Wonton’s factory churns out four million Golden Bowl-brand cookies, which are sold to several hundred venders, who, in turn, sell them to most of the forty thousand Chinese restaurants across the country. Wonton’s primacy in the industry and, for that matter, in the gambler’s imagination is such that when, in March, five of six lucky numbers printed on a fortune happened to coincide with the winning picks for the Powerball lottery, a hundred and ten people, instead of the usual handful, came forward to claim prizes of around a hundred thousand dollars. Lottery officials suspected a scam until they traced the sequence to a fortune printed with the digits “22-28-32-33-39-40” and Donald Lau’s prediction: “All the preparation you’ve done will finally be paying off.”

“We’ve had winners before, but never this many,” Lau said the other day, in his East Williamsburg office, which is furnished with stacks of financial reports and “A Dictionary of American Proverbs.” “A computer picks the numbers, not me. If only a computer could also write the fortunes.” Lau never expected to become a fortune-cookie writer. After graduating from Columbia with degrees in engineering and business, he joined Bank of America, then ran a company that exported logs from the Pacific Northwest to China. In the early eighties, he was hired by a Chinatown noodle manufacturer, which eventually expanded into fortune cookies. The firm bought the Long Island City plant, and it soon became apparent that its antiquated catalogue of fortunes would have to be updated. (“Find someone as gay as you are,” one leftover from the nineteen-forties read.) “We knew we needed to add new sayings,” Lau said. “I was chosen because my English was the best of the group, not because I’m a poet.”

At first, the writing came easily. Finding inspiration in sources ranging from the I Ching to the Post, Lau cranked out three or four maxims a day, between scrutinizing spreadsheets and monitoring the company’s inventory of chow mein. “I’d be on the subway and look up at the signs and think, Hey, that would make a great fortune,” he said. (One such adage: “Beware of odors from unfamiliar sources.”) “I’d keep a small notebook and jot down whatever came to me. I don’t think I ever sat in front of the computer and said, ‘I am going to write ten fortunes right now.’ It has to come naturally.”

Love, riches, power: there is a limited range of experience that can be expressed in one sentence, and, about eleven years into his tenure, Lau began to run out of ideas. He leaned increasingly on traditional Chinese sayings, which offer insight (along the lines of “True gold fears no fire”) but not foresight (“Your income will increase”), and in 1995 he gave up altogether. “I’ve written thousands of fortunes, but the inspiration is gone,” Lau said. “Have you heard of writer’s block? That is what happened to me.”

These days, he cycles selections from his vast oeuvre in and out of circulation. He is worried that readers will notice that the cookies are in reruns, which might result in Wonton’s losing its edge on the competition. (This is unlikely. Although there are about forty fortune-cookie companies in the United States, few have Wonton’s manufacturing capabilities.) So Lau has decided to bring in new blood. The company will soon advertise for a new fortune writer, and Lau will make the transition to editor. “Maybe when I retire I’ll write again—perhaps a book about writing fortunes,” he said. Returning to form, he summarized the thrust of the book with two simple axioms. “Don’t have too complicated a mind,” he said. “Think in ten-word sentences.”

Mung Beans.

Mung beans or green beans have been commonly used in Asian/Oriental cuisine for many years. It can be eaten as whole or as bean sprouts. It is a tasty source of vitamin and protein. The Chinese has shown their great wisdom by featuring Mung Beans in its cuisine with superb creativity.
The most popular to cooked whole mung beans is to boil them in water until soft. Chinese use whole mung beans to make sweet soup, which is a welcoming summer delicacy. Malaysians like to add coconut milk and brown sugar to the mung bean soup. This refreshing dessert is usually served chilled and is a good remedy to the summer heat.
Mung bean paste is also made into the fillings of some popular dessert items like mung beans cake or buns(bread). Even the starch of the beans is separated and used to make jellies and noodles.
Mung bean sprouts are the most common used vegetable accompaniment to a Chinese meal. It is an easy and convenient way to add to the fresh taste and crunchy texture of stir-fried dishes, fried rice or noodles or stuffing for spring roll.
Traditional Chinese Medicine considers bean sprouts to be yin or cooling food, which have the merits of alleviating heat stroke and detoxifying the body.

The Olive Garden

Sunday, we decided to have lunch with my son who came back for Fall Break, from Georgia Tech,Atlanta. He said he will make reservation since he has a few more friends joining us. We reached that at 2pm. Eventhough we made reservation, actually the said they do not take reservation, they gave us some kind of buzzer, it will buzz when there is a table for us. We still have to wait another 30 minutes. By the time , we decided to go in , there were people ahead of us. Still have to wait another 15 minutes. They were crowded, I guess the food must be excellent.
Finally, we got our table, set down and the waitress took our order for drinks.Later she brought us some cheesebread and salads.
Then we placed our order, the price were average high. Most of the boys decided to order the All You Can Eat Pasta, for $8.95 .There are 7 different kinds of pasta,Angel Hair, Fettucinni, Linguine, Sphagetti, etc. with different kind of sauces, Smoked Alfredo,Marinara sausage, etc.
My husband ordered the Garlic Chicken with Fettucinni. I ordered the Smoked Alfredo Fettucinni. He liked his Chicken, I tried to finish my pasta, but it has too much cheese on it.When all the boys finished theirs, no one wanted another plate. The pasta and bread filled them up.Service :Excellent, Food: Average Price: High

Weekend Travel

Today we got to drive a long way to Tallahassee, Florida, then to Dothan and Montgomery, Alabama and back to Phenix City, Alabama and Columbus,Georgia.
The weather was cloudy, suppossed to rain.
We left Columbus, Georgia at 1015 am, drove all the way from Highway 280 East , then 27 South all the way to Tallahassee. Took us 3 hours driving, and everyone was hungry so we took lunch at the Super China Buffet.
Lunch is $ 6.40 per person, drinks separate. On the Buffet line there were more than 150 items from Japanese, Chinese, Mexican to American Food. You can have baked Salmon,Dim Sum, Lo Mein Noodles, Bar b que pork, ribs, Salad, Soup, Desserts, Sushi, Fried Rice, Sesame Chicken, Italian Chicken and so many more.
The Egg Custart Tart is real good, a mini tart but the crust is very crispy. And the Sushi is so fresh, a lady behind the bar made them fresh. Also if you like Terriyaki, you can pick up your choice of meat and Vegetables and the Chef will cook for you ,right on the teppanyaki grill.
They were real busy, even on a Saturday. Our waitress was real sweet, although she did not really take care of our drinks, she was a little busy.

Today's Fortune" If it is meant to be , who are you to change that. Time to believe it"
Does this mean Faith? If it is faith, can you change it? Some people believe that you can change your faith, they will not let anything block them, not even faith. When they want to do something, they are determined to do it. But, some people believe that if it is faith, you cannot change it.They will sit around and blame everything on faith. So what kind are you?
Just let time tells you.

Japanese Food.

This evening, I am about to cook dinner but my husband called and said The Boss man
wanted to eat out. He told me to wait at Chef Lee's Restaurant because they really enjoy the atmosphere and the food there.I drove 5 miles to my destination and was surprised the parking lot was so emptied. A sign on the door said, Closed on Mondays.
So, we changed our destination to dine in at Fuji ,Japanese Seafood and Steak House.
A very big restaurant, surprisingly owned by a Chinese couple and most of the chefs and waitresses were Indonesians and a few Chinese.
They have a long Sushi Bar, a Bar and a few teppanyaki grill, table. Not too busy but a few tables were having birthday parties. They were singing Birthday song with gongs and drums. Something very unusual.
The waitresses all dress in Kimono Shirts.
We ordered some Shasimi( a varieties of Fresh fish,Tuna,Yellow fin and Salmon)Also told the sushi chef to fix us a Sushi Boat. It had a varieties of different Sushi,California Rolls and Crab meat Rolls.
The Sushi Boat came beautiful arranged. Taste delicious. I did not quite like the Shasimi because I do not like raw meat.
The guys enjoyed their Sake and having a good time.

Atlanta Dim Sum

Today we took a trip to Atlanta, Georgia. The drive is about 2 hours from Columbus,Georgia. Traffic is not too bad on Sunday. We went to The Canton House for some Dim Sum. This restaurant is always packed especially on Sunday. Even though we arrived at almost 2 pm ,we still have to wait 10 minutes to be seated. As you sat down, the waiter will bring you a pot of Hot Tea, Oolong or Poo Li.
Then you see some ladies pushing some carts and ask each table if they wanted any of the items there. As the carts came along we ordered Roast Pork bun,Siu Mai,Har Kow(Shrimp)Beef Meat Balls, Yam Cakes and Cheong Fun. All those little platters looked so tempting. Tasted Okay but not enough salt. However, we enjoyed it since we have not been eating such delicacy for a long time.
Later, we went to the Island Bakery and bought more buns and to the 99 Oriental Market to get some grocery. Here you will find all kinds of fresh and frozen Oriental Groceries, from Vegetables to Fish, Noodles, Pork,Beef, Chicken and all kinds of Oriental Stuff.

Tako's Terriyaki Chicken

Today we had lunch at the Tako Restaurant on Double Churches Road ,Columbus ,Georgia.
It is owned by a friend .Both brothers from China work there.
The name sounds like Mexican(Taco) but actually is a Japanese and Chinese restaurant. There are two many Chinese restaurants nowadays , so you will usually find a restaurant with a combination theme Chinese/Japanese, Chinese/Thai or Chinese/Mexican.
Located on a small shopping center, this little restaurant is decorated more of Japanese style, lanterns, bamboos and paper screens. About 20 tables, the menus has
lunch and dinner special and individual order ,either Japanese or Chinese Stir fried.
We were served with some green tea(real hot) and some Mame beans. After we ordered, the waiter brought us miso soup. It a soy based soup with some tofu and seaweed. Also very hot, taste good but a little salty.
Then came our meals, Terriyaki Chicken(Japanese) and Shrimp/Chicken with Mix Vegetables. Served on a big plate, with fried rice and Vegetables Spring Roll.

Recipe for Fortune Cookies

Most of the time we get our Fortune Cookies from the Chinese Restaurant. When you want to buy them, they are hard to find in the grocery store. And they are not fresh.Sometimes you can ask the Chinese Restaurant owner to sell you some, they are either reluctant or charge you a lot , maybe 25 cents for a cookie.
Well, maybe you can try making your own fortune cookies, put your own flavor like orange, chocolate or coconut. Also you can put in your own fortune, maybe like a proposal. Here is a recipe I found and like to share it . Give me a review if you have try it.

INGREDIENTS
1 egg white
1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 pinch salt
1/4 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
1/4 cup white sugar
Other flavors(Optional) 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder,or 1 tablespoon of orange juice(concentrated)

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Butter a cookie sheet. Type fortunes on strips of paper about 4 inches long and 1/2 inch wide. Generously grease 2 cookie sheets.
Beat the egg white and vanilla until foamy but not stiff. Sift the flour, salt, and sugar and blend into the egg white mixture.
Place teaspoonfuls of the batter at least 4 inches apart on one of the prepared cookie sheets. Tilt the sheet to move the batter into round shapes about 3 inches in diameter. Be careful to make batter as round and even as possible. Do not make too many, because the cookie have to be really hot to form them and once they cool it is too late. Start with 2 or 3 to a sheet and see how many you can do.
Bake for 5 minutes or until cookie has turned a golden color 1/2 inch wide around the outer edge of the circle. The center will remain pale. While one sheet is baking, prepare the other.
Remove from oven and quickly move cookie with a wide spatula and place upside down on a wooden board. Quickly place the fortune on the cookie, close to the middle and fold the cookie in half. Place the folded edge across the rim of a measuring cup and pull the pointed edges down, one on the inside of the cup and one on the outside. Place folded cookies into the cups of a muffin tin or egg carton to hold their shape until firm.
Enjoy your own fortune cookie.
Todays my cookie says "Beauty in its various forms appeals to you."
What is beauty? Physically or mentally? A lot of people sees beauty as it is shown physically, but real beauty comes from inside .There is beauty in caring for others, love and in nature. Have you ever sit down in a park or by the beach to enjoy the real beauty of nature, enjoy the sound of the waves, the softness of the wind and the beauty of the sun setting? This is real beauty of nature from God,that no money can buy.

Origin of The Fortune Cookies.

Where did the Fortune Cookie originate from? United States of America or China? What is a Fortune Cookie? Why is it so popular in America?
Have you ever asked yourself these questions? What is it with the Fortune Cookie?

The Fortune Cookie is a delicate, crisp cookie made from flour, sugar, butter, vanilla, and milk which is baked around a fortune, a piece of paper with words of faux wisdom or vague prophecy. Unique to the United States and Canada, it is usually served with Chinese food as a dessert. The message inside may also include a list of lucky numbers (used by some as lottery numbers) and a Chinese phrase with translation. Despite conventional wisdom, they were actually invented in California.

San Francisco and Los Angeles both lay claim to the origin of the fortune cookie. Makoto Hagiwara of Golden Gate Park's Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco is said to have invented the cookie in 1909,[1] while David Jung, founder of the Hong Kong Noodle Company in Los Angeles, is said to have invented them in 1918.[2]

San Francisco's Court of Historical Review ruled in 1983 in favor of San Francisco. Although the court was presided over by a Federal judge, the court itself has been criticized as being less than serious and biased in favor of San Francisco. Its conclusions, therefore, might not be the final word on the subject.[2]

The cookies are generally called by the English term fortune cookies, even by Chinese Americans, as there is no standard Chinese term for them. In the Chinese language, however, fortune cookie has been translated variously as 幸运签饼, 签语饼, 幸运饼, 幸运签语饼, 幸运甜饼, 幸福饼干, 幸运饼干, 幸运饼, 幸运籤语饼, 籤语饼, or 占卜饼.

The non-Chinese origin of the fortune cookie is humorously illustrated in Amy Tan's 1989 novel The Joy Luck Club, in which a pair of Chinese immigrant women find jobs at a fortune cookie factory in America. They are amused by the unfamiliar concept of a fortune cookie but, after several hilarious attempts at translating the fortunes into Chinese, come to the conclusion that the cookies contain not wisdom, but "bad instruction."

Although many people do not take the message in a fortune cookie as a serious oracular device, many of them consider it part of the game that the entire cookie must be consumed in order for the fortune to come true.[6] Variations on this idea include not eating the cookie if a fortune seems unlucky, or the idea that the entire cookie must be eaten before the fortune is read. Or conversely, the fortune must be read before any of the cookie is eaten. Some people believe the fortune will not come true if it is read aloud. Additionally, the fortune is said to come true if one uses "your lucky numbers" on the back of the fortune to play, and win, a game of Krypto.

The new version of some fortune cookies comes up with Learning Chinese . A Chinese phrase with translation and pronunciation is typed on it.
Have any one ever think about inserting some bad fortune instead of good fortune, and see what will be the results,..Ha ha,joke!!!

Today Fortune Cookie says:"You will travel far and wide, both pleasure and business"

This is great, my passion to travel, and see the world and I can blog about my travelling , the people I meet and the new culture I can learn from.

Columbus Top 10 Restaurant.

Today , we have dinner at One of Columbus's Top Ten Restaurant. We dined at Chef Lee Chinese Restaurant,One of the best restaurant voted by Restaurant Magazine and endorsed by Martin Yan.
Indeed this is one of the best decorated Chinese Restaurant, with antique Chinese decoration, a pond with lots of Koi Fish and with beautiful Chinese Music background. You feel like you are in China Town. Also known as Peking Restaurant.
We asked the waiter for some special oriental dishes rather than the typical American Chinese Menu.He recommended Steamed Fish, Ma Po Tofu(Bean curd cooked with
minced port, onions on a spicy sauce) Stir fried Egg Plant with Garlic Sauce and Stir fried Napa with Pork.
We waited a little long because all the dishes were specially prepared. They came out hot and fresh especially the fish.Every dish tasted well seasoned , perfect. Service was excellent. It is worth it.I recommend Chef Lee's if you come to Columbus,Georgia.
Located on Bradley Park Drive.

Today Fortune Cookie : "Someone is speaking well of you"
"You will bring happiness to everyone"
I love these.

Florida's Fortune cookies.

Today we have to drive 3 hours to Tallahassee, Florida. It is a long drive with beautiful weather. This is quite a big city, where Florida States University is located.
We did a little work and by lunch time , we were hungry so we drove around to find a good restaurant to eat. Saw The China Delight. An average Chinese restaurant. Not too busy, just a few tables of customers. The restaurant is modestly decorated. There is no buffet,we have to order from the lunch menu.About 16 items from the menu.

We ordered Chicken with Broccoli and Chicken Lo Mein. It came served with Fried rice,Eggroll and Hot and Sour Soup. The soup was delicious. We asked for hot pepper sauce, it was really spicy. Later, we ask for duck sauce for our eggroll but the waiter bought us some red red sweet and sour sauce. Service *** Food***
China Delight is located on 220,West Tennessee Street,Tallahassee, Fl 32301.
Fortune Cookies says: "You will bring sunshine into some one's life."

I would always like to share my time, happiness and love with someone I love.If you can bring a smile and love to someone everyday, why not? Start with the people around you, your fiends, neighbours and families.

Lucky Pizza

Today we want to try a pizza from Cici's pizza.I love the pizza there, the large pepperoni pizza is about 15" in diameter, covered with cheese. They are ready to pick up when you go to the drive thru. I love the service at Cici's. The employees are always so friendly and everyone will give you a big smile and welcome you when you walk in. "Welcome to Cici's". Every one in there will greet you, even the kitchen staff. The pizza comes in a thick crust, a little spicy but they taste Delicious. Also, so with some garlic sauce. This is my lucky pizza because I got a good deal. The staff give me a big discount since they are closing up.
Today Lucky Pizza fortune is" You Love Peace"
Everyone loves Peace whether it is at home, at work or out in the world. Why are there still wars everywhere among nations and countries? Why can't people live peacefully?
I love peacefulness . Sometimes I just love when my kids are not home. I can have all the peacefulness by my self. The best thing I want to wish for is Peace to whole World.

Busy Day Cookie

Today I really had a busy day. Got up at 6.30 am . I drove to the Flea Market at Victory Drive to sell some of my stuff. Instead trying to get rid of most of my junks, I bought more stuff to sell, got some walking canes and more costume jewelries.
I already reserved my booth , so when I reached, I just have to set up .Took me 30 minutes to set up, I really do not have a lot of stuff like the other folks. My first customer bought 3 walking canes, bargained till five dollars(I asked for 6). but I was glad to make the first sale. Later, through out the day I was able to sell some Tee-shirt and a table saw my husband asked me to sell. Sold for $40.00. Only sold a couple of necklaces and bracelets. Sold a little more stuff and I decided to call it a day after 2.30 pm. One vendor told me, to stay till 5 as more people will come.
On the way home I stopped by to get some grocery at Rainbow Food, They have fresh meat at lower price.
Went home took a nap, and at 8.30 went to a friend birthday party, ate a lot of home cooked meals, and reached home at 1.30 am. This was a long and busy day for me.
So I only have one cookie to read.
The Cookie says "Time is the Wisest Counselor"
Is this true? To me Time is really precious, Sometime it is not enough, If I have more time , I would want to do more things and get more accomplished. But we cannot go back in time.So we better make use of the time we have, get more things done, accomplished more goals, and spend more time with our families and friends.Time flies away fast and we may never catch it again.

Little Ceasars-Hot And Ready Pizza

Yesterday, I was too lazy to cook and I do not want to eat out.I decided to pick up a pizza for my youngest son, Joel.I went to the Drive-Thru and Little Caesar's at Buena Vista Road. My son loves the pizza here.Just ask the cashier at the Drive thru," I need a Hot and Ready Pizza"It cost $4.99 plus tax($5.30) and you will get a large 15" round pizza covered pepperoni and cheese, just out of the oven. Comes with a cup of mazzollera sauce.Even, when you reach home , it is still hot.
And my son can eat the whole pizza, for lunch and dinner. It is a very good deal, for less than $6.00. Next time, you have a party or having some guests over, get you some
Hot and Ready Pizza. It don't come with any fortune cookies but you can get some Crazy Bread for 99 cents.
Today Fortune Cookie Says: "Your fate is in no one else buy you, no other hands but yours."
A lot of people believe that their lives are fated. They blamed everything on fate.Especially the Orientals, they believe in fate. But ,you can change your fate, you can always work for the better. If you don't work, fate can never help you, you have to help yourself, no one ,even your best friend can help you, if you do not do anything to help yourself.

Today Chinese word- Pe Che How =Good Temper.

Today,We have to drive to Montgomery, Alabama again. We had a quick lunch at China East. We ordered Mandarin combination and Fried Rice Noodles. The Hot and Sour Soup was good.
Spent the whole day trying to get some permits from cityhall, downtown. By the time we finished, everyone was hungry so we decided to eat at the Super Buffet Restaurant
on Atlanta Highway.Quite a large restaurant and they have various kind of food, Chinese, Japanese and Italian. They have about 100 over items ranging from Rice, noodles, fish, chicken, stirfried, soup, sushi, shrimp ,crablegs, oysters, pizza, terriyaki and a noodles soup bar. Also a lot of salad, desserts and fruits.
We could not eat a lot although we were hungry.
The service was not perfect, just average, the waiter just stood at a corner, never refill our drinks, and when he cleared our plates, he was not too friendly. We got our fortune cookies though.

What my fortune cookies said?

When I first came to America, I worked in my brother-law's Chinese restaurant I was thrilled to see all those Fortune cookies around. And when the customer finished their meals, the waitress would put the numbers of Fortune cookies (based on the number of guests per table) on top of the guest check, on the tip tray and gave them to the customers.

The customers would always enlightened to open the fortune cookies from their plastic wrappers ,break the cookies into half. Inside the cookie, came a small piece of paper with some words typed on and some funny numbers. They would read their fortune to each other, and always had a good laugh or happy atmosphere.

I was wondering what is all these fun about that little cookie.Back home, we never had such entertainment after dinner, just paid your check and get out.

I came to know that Fortune Cookie is very popular in all the Chinese Restaurants in America. It was not originated from the Asian countries or China, but somewhere in America.

The little tiny piece of paper usually has a quote/saying or message that tells about someones luck, faith or future.

Many People believe in them and said they are very true to their daily life. Some just have a good laugh and used it as a joke to make fun about their friends.

Most of the sayings or quote are usually positive or good, seldom find a bad one. Those set of numbers are lucky number that a lot of people will use them to buy lotto or power ball. Someone

did really hit the jackpot with these numbers.

I will try to dig more about the history of this little Fortune Cookie.

I will try to post a fortune cookie saying daily, hope all of you out there will give me your interpretation of what it says.

Today's Fortune Cookies Saying :

You are a person of strong sense of duty

It quite true for me, How does it apply to you? Please post your comment
